The Black Tiger

The dark fell fast,
the dark fell full,
the dark took more,
the dark took all,
the dark left none,
All who run,
all who strive,
all who cry,
all who survive,
The ones who drown,
The ones who burn,
The ones who die,
Never to return.
In the black, the tiger was blind,
Outside the black, nothing was found,
With everything bound, drowned, and aligned,
The animals feared the entire mind.
There was something different about
this monster, something broken and
Conquered.
The black tiger rejected, yet lived on high,
Because all he wanted was to fly–
Like one bright eagle nearby.
